When a loved one dies you have the opportunity to plan a funeral that helps family and friends come together to honour and remember their lives. We have put together a few examples of what you should expect when arranging a funeral. Please note that costs will also change depending on the choices you make while arranging the funeral. We will provide an estimate of costs for your particular wishes and needs to help you create a farewell that creates memories and meets budgets.

A Summary of Fees

The detail below is not an exhaustive list.  It highlights some of the common elements our families consider.

Professional Service Fee
At Tong & Peryer, our professional service fee is made of the services your funeral director will provide to you. This includes but is not limited to, meeting with your family or representative, liaising with external providers and coordinating service requirements, creation of funeral elements, transfer into our care and back home or to the marae, directing a funeral, registration of the death, administration and 24-hour service, and personal attendance to all your needs. From $3,500.00

Care of the Deceased Fee
Our care of the deceased fee covers all the activity we need to prepare and manage the deceased during their time with us.  We are constantly managing hygiene, dignity and preservation.  These costs include all associated costs with this part of our service. From $950.00

Cremation Fee
Our cremation services are provided by the Hawke’s Bay Crematorium. We do not add any surcharges to their fees. Cremations include a temporary wood urn, which can be used until you decide what you would like to do with the ashes. From $935.00

Hearse Fee
At Tong & Peryer, we have a fleet of modern and classic hearses. Costs very slightly depending on the hearse that is used. From $450.00

Doctors Fee
Every doctor’s fee can vary for the cremation certificate. It’s important to know that we do not charge extra costs for the doctor’s services. From $150

Death Certificate
Births, Death and Marriages issue and charge for the Certified Copy of a Certificate. We will provide you with additional copies and we can arrange for these to be certified by a Justice of the Peace at no extra charge. Original copy $38

Viewings, Ashes Storage and Accommodation of the Deceased
We do not charge for viewings, ashes storage or accommodation of the deceased. Our private and peaceful family rooms can be accessed by family 24 hours a day at no extra charge.

Celebrants & Clergy
Whether arranged by us or your own celebrant, there is a fee for their services. In the case of clergy associated with a church parish, it is usual to offer a gratuity for services provided. There may also be fees for the verger and organist. We also have an in-house celebrant who can help you create a touching and memorable ceremony. From $690.00

Death Notices
Death notices are charged on a per line basis – Notices from $250.00

Photo Tribute-Montage
We can create a photo tribute of your loved one’s life to be shown on screen at the funeral service. These are a popular and beautiful way to remember your family member from $345.00

Live-streaming
Live-streaming the service live has become a popular option for families. It enables people unable to travel to the funeral, to be able to view it from their own location anywhere in the world. From $500.00

Service sheets
Our own in-house designer and printing services mean that we can create a beautiful service sheet for you and quickly and easily have copies available. From $3.20 per sheet.

Catering
Catering costs can vary tremendously, depending on which company you choose to use and what menu you wish to create. We work regularly with Pure Catering and prices per head start from $14.50

Florists
Flowers add a beautiful touch to any funeral ceremony. Prices depend on the choice of flowers and the size of bouquets or sprays. For a casket floral tribute you can expect to pay from $320.00
